Welcome
to Bandana Philosophy

Welcome! My name is Sophia Surti (she/they) and I'm a writer, musician, and naturalist. I just released my first poetry collection, "asymmetrical ponderings", which you can download or read online by clicking here or on the link below!
I created this blog as a community space to explore topics and experiences important to me from an informed, genuine perspective. Inspired by the bandana’s cultural significance, from its role as a canvas for intricate dye techniques in South Asia, to a symbol of working rights in the 20th century, to queer signaling in the ’70s. Everywhere from museums to runways to campsites, the bandana's versatility also speaks to my desire to share stories. Through poetry, reflections on invisible disability, culture, identity, and everyday life, I hope to create space for curiosity, connection, and conversation. So pour yourself a mug of hot cocoa (or a glass of wine), pull up a seat around the metaphorical bonfire, and let’s explore some ideas together!
